About The Librarian

Hi, my name is Sara. I’m a middle/high librarian in southern Florida and…I read. People are always shocked when I tell them that 1. I spend work days reading and 2. that I actually finished the whole book in one day. I’ve always been a ‘reader’. Reading to me is as essential as breathing, chocolate, and a good glass of wine…it’s something I couldn’t live without. My husband claims that giving me a Nook was like giving an addict an unlimited supply…thank goodness libraries give out books for free!

While I admittedly read voraciously, it’s impossible to keep up with all of your book options. As a librarian I often turn to the internet when looking for new books to add to my collection, or to find quick and dirty booktalks of book I haven’t read yet for recommendations. When dealing with reluctant teen readers I needed a booktalk or review that packed a “big bang” so as to entice them in this age of blockbuster previews. What happened was that I needed blockbuster and often found wet rags instead. Soon I found myself writing my own booktalks (occasionally stealing a good line from the publisher or reviewer) and I thought that others may want these attention grabbing blurbs as well. One student even told me my booktalks ”were better than what was on the back of the book” lol, high praise I tell you! So here we are, feel free to use any booktalk or review you find on my site…If it helps you put one more good book in a teen’s hands I’ve done my duty.
